The Torqo System... Adding a new
twist to torque testing
The Torqo is a durable and reliable computerized cap torque
analyzer, which is setting a new standard for torque measurement
throughout the packaging industry. With its on-board microprocessor,
the Torqo makes torque testing simple, accurate and affordable. It
is easy to use, easy to set up, easy to move and maintenance free!
Tooling is available for any threaded closure - including child
resistant caps - and this compact unit delivers and stores precise
results at the touch of a button.
Why spend more for a motorized cap torque testing system?
To put it simply, different operators will apply different forces
to manual torque measuring devices, and the force applied directly
relates to the torque measured. When torque is measured by using a
manual torque meter, an operator’s hand is responsible for applying
the twisting force to the cap in order for the cap to rotate to the
removal point or application point. At this point, torque data is
recorded and displayed on the torque measurement device. During this
process, an increase in the force applied by the operator to the
cap, or an increase in the speed at which the force is applied, will
result in an increase in the measured torque of the cap, and
vice-versa. In order for accurate and reliable data to be obtained,
each operator must apply precisely the same amount of force to the
cap, testing cycle after testing cycle. With a motorized torque
testing system, the force applied to a cap is precisely the same in
each testing cycle, regardless of who may be operating the machine,
or how strong they may be.

Timely information improves quality
The Torqo gives you information that helps you track events - and
potential problems - during the manufacturing process. It stores
data by capping head number, making trends easily recognizable, so
that money-saving corrections can be performed in a timely fashion.
Because the test results are automatically stored, manual recording
errors are eliminated and verification of the testing process
becomes easy.
Variety of tests meet every need
-
Removal Torque: With a single keystroke, the cap can be removed and reapplied
to a designated torque level. The measured values can be stored in the Torqo's
memory.
-
Incremental Torque: The proper installation of a cap with an internal seal can
be verified with this test.
-
Bridge Torque: This test determines the rotational force required to break the
bands that bridge the gap between the cap and the tamper evident band on either
an aluminum roll-on cap or a plastic cap.
-
Reverse Ratchet Torque: This measures the torque required to rotate a
child-resistant cap in its free running state.
-
Life Test: With this selection, the removal and reapplication test will be
performed for a pre-programmed number of cycles.
Do more and do it effortlessly
With the Torqo you can easily change from one mode to another -
such as removal to removal/incremental - or change bottle style from
beverage to child-resistant. A constant velocity drive does away
with operator induced errors and eliminates the physical strain that
can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
All the output you need - even SPC reports
The software generates X charts, R charts and histograms, while
the processor calculates the standard deviation and range. The Torqo
has the flexibility to download your data directly to a PC for daily
report production. Because of Vibrac's commitment to meeting the
ever-changing needs of industry, the software is easily updateable
when new tests are needed.
Non-destructive testing saves money
Since the testing process with the Torqo is generally
non-destructive, you can often return the tested samples to the
manufacturing line. This is possible because the Torqo can reapply
the cap in less than 500 ms from the time the peak torque is
measured. Extensive incubation testing has proven that pasteurized
liquids with vacuum seal caps are not affected by this method of
Torqo testing, and similarly, carbonated beverages do not lose their
CO2 content.
Calibrate on site to save time and money
Your Torqo comes with a Certificate of Calibration that assures trace ability to the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST). This calibration can be verified or a new one
done at any time and without returning the system to the factory. Anyone can
perform the operation by using a Vibrac® Calibration Kit
and by following the simple instructions and keypad prompts that are
provided with the Torqo.
A durable product that fits easily in your plant
This metal-housed unit, with its abrasion resistant finish, can
withstand the dust and liquid spills that occur during normal
factory use. Maintenance is simple: just wipe the Torqo down with a
damp cloth. A mobile workbench that requires a mere four square feet
of space can be supplied. This bench provides ample storage for all
changeable parts.
